FAQ

Rise Up is dedicated to only roasting sustainable coffees Certified Organic + Certified Fair Trade.

This decision isn’t based on buzz-words or marketing, it’s literally rooted in our love for our farmers and their families.

The farmers who grow our coffee should receive the glory. We are among the fortunate who get to roast these coffee and share them with you. By staying committed to the time-honored craft coffee roasting, we strive to make them proud.

Rise Up is proud to serve only organic coffees, as coffee is the third most pesticide-doused crop in the world. Our coffees come to us from the finest growing regions of the world. These coffees are grown on farms only using traditional cultivating techniques without the use of pesticides.

Coffee has always been the crop of the poor. Through Fair Trade practices, we help to provide our farmers with a dignified existence. In simple terms, the extra money spent on the coffee can be invested back into the farm, family and community. The ripple effects we’ve seen in our time in coffee have been dramatic.

All coffee is roasted on a small-batch artisan coffee roaster. Our emphasis is on quality over quantity.

Most of our coffees are generally considered a ‘medium’ roast. The truth is that we source the highest quality coffees we can find, then roast each one differently in order to bring out the best of what’s inherent in those particular beans. Generally speaking, our blends are more medium roast and our single origin coffees are on the lighter end of the spectrum. For those of you that love that dark, roasty flavor, we have our French Roast.

We NEVER add any flavorings to our coffee. We use tasting notes on our packaging and on our website as a way for us to describe nuances in each coffee, noticing things like taste (imagine that!), sweetness and body. Do not be alarmed if you can’t taste citrus or butter in your cup. Flavor only matters in the context of you! What do you like? Are you looking for a full-bodied cowboy coffee, or a delicate tea-like finish? Whatever your tipple, we’ve got you covered!

Store your coffee in a cool, dark place. Perhaps just leave in the bag we provide. Fresh roasted coffee puts off CO2. Our bags are state of the art, with a one-way degassing valve. If you want to step your game up, keep your coffee whole bean (not ground) and place it in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. We strongly suggest that you avoid storing coffee in a fridge or freezer. Moving beans in and out of the freezer every time you make coffee can introduce moisture to the beans, resulting in potential mold growth and degradation of the coffee.
Additionally, coffee easily absorbs the flavor of things around it. Take care in choosing a container to store it in, and be mindful that storing near odorous foods, spices etc, may change the flavor of the coffee.

We believe in consuming coffee as you would produce or bread…FRESH! We recommend drinking your coffee within 2 weeks of the roast date. After 2-3 weeks, you may notice a drop in the intensity of the flavor and your coffee may not be as dynamic.

We believe in FRESH coffee! It can take between 24-48 hours to get your order out the door. Though freshness is imperative, we also know that coffee orders can often be rather urgent. We have a system to get the freshest coffee shipped to you as quickly as possible. Usually our processing time is 24 hours or less, but this may vary based on order volumes, shipping schedules and roasting schedules.

You will be emailed as soon as we receive your order as well as notification when your order has shipped. This notification will also include tracking information.

We are also very happy to replace any items damaged in transit. We typically ask for a photo of the damage to pass along to our shipping department in case there is a trend in breakage. Additionally, if the box was also damaged, a photo of that can help us get information to our shipping partners. Please let us know the original order number and the best address for the return shipment. You can do this via email info@riseupcoffee.com or by calling (877) 474-7387.

For our Rise Up Cold Brew, we use our Organic House Roast. We find the dark chocolate and berry notes translate very nicely when cold brewed.

Our Cold Brew has a shelf life and must be refrigerated! Please keep Cold Brew refrigerated. Once the Cold Brew stubbies have been opened, we recommend enjoying it within 2-3 days. For glass growlers filled with Cold Brew in our cafes, we recommend drinking within 10-14 days.

We cannot ship Cold Brew. Due to the highly perishable nature of our Cold Brew products, we are unable to ship them, and therefore they are unavailable for online purchase.

The good news is, you can make your own Cold Brew at home. Here’s a brew guide to get you started.
